Music Monday Spotlight: Asher Roth
Remember when "I Love College" was everyone's anthem? Well, not only did Asher let his hair grow out, but he decided he didn't want to go to college for the rest of his life. Instead, he wanted to school everyone else in the game with his new album. Although
RetroHash
did not get as much media attention as it should have, (mainly because it wasn't categorized as mainstream in the music industry) it is very detail oriented and it deserves some respect.
Aside from the impressive musical collaborations on this album, like ZZ Ward and Curren$y, what caught my attention was who he chose to collaborate with for his album's artwork. The Legendary artist, John Van Hamersveld, who's been illustrating album covers for pop and psychedelic artists since the 60s worked with Asher Roth first hand to translate his music into RetroHash artwork.
There's almost nothing I love more than when rappers take the 'indie' route on an album.
You can listen to the whole

My top pick off this new indie experimental album would have to be "Tangerine Girl" without a doubt. Give it a listen, and tell me what you think!
